On Saturday, the congo River Golf course transformed into a vibrant showcase of community spirit as pet owners gathered for the “Putt putt for Pets” event, inspired by Logan and Sadie.
This initiative is part of the ongoing pet Mission by 96.9 WINK-FM, a year-round effort dedicated to rescuing, feeding, and finding forever homes for pets in Southwest Florida.
What started as a goal to collect 1,500 pounds of pet food ended with an remarkable total of over 4,022 pounds. This amount could easily fill two pickup trucks to capacity!
Listeners made their way to the event and contributed considerably.
Participants traveled from locations such as Venice, Port Charlotte, and North Port, each bringing at least a ten-pound donation of pet food in exchange for complimentary access to the mini-golf course.
Before the first putt was made, volunteers were busy swapping out golf carts for flatbeds and wheelbarrows to transport the generous donations.
A Heartfelt Thank You
“A huge thank you goes out to our compassionate community in Southwest florida and all our fantastic listeners on 96.9 WINK-FM! Your incredible contribution of over four thousand pounds will make a real difference in the lives of animals cared for by Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue and Haven on earth Animal League,” said morning show co-host Logan with pride beside towering stacks of pet food bags.
Sadie added enthusiastically: ”This event is always so rewarding! I love having the chance to support local rescues while connecting with our listeners who do so much good for our community… It’s truly unmatched!”
the Commitment Behind The Pet Mission
The Pet Mission at WINK-FM organizes quarterly drives that gather food supplies and host adoption events known as “paw-ties,” ensuring that no local shelter runs low on resources or volunteers.
The success witnessed this past Saturday highlights an essential principle: when communities come together around animal welfare initiatives, everyone benefits.
Tackling Hunger Together
Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue (GOFAR), located in Fort Myers, focuses on rescuing vulnerable dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters. Each year they successfully place over four hundred pets into foster or permanent homes.
Nestled in Naples is Haven on Earth Animal League which specializes in caring for neonatal kittens along with special-needs pets requiring constant attention.
Both organizations rely entirely on donations to keep their food supplies stocked and medical resources available. Food represents their largest expense—especially during kitten season or peak summer months when intake surges occur. The recent collection is expected to sustain these animals’ needs for approximately three full months; this allows volunteers more flexibility with cash donations towards spaying/neutering procedures and also vaccinations and critical medical care treatments needed by many animals under their care.
A Sneak Peek Into Future Events
Logan and Sadie hinted that another exciting drive from The Pet Mission will be coming soon (hint: it involves dogs paddling through water!). Until then, animal enthusiasts across Southwest Florida can take pride knowing they turned an enjoyable round of mini-golf into meaningful acts of kindness benefiting local rescues!
Tune into Logan & Sadie every weekday morning from six until ten o’clock on 96.9 WINK-FM—where residents wake up each day surrounded by engaging stories about their community alongside laughter!
