EL CENTRO — Your cherished pet story could be a game-changer! The national nonprofit, Petco Love, in collaboration with the Humane Society of Imperial County, invites you to share how your adopted furry friend has transformed your life. The call for submissions for the annual Petco Love Tales initiative began on August 11th, 2025. This campaign encourages adopters across the region to recount their touching and sometimes challenging experiences with pets they have welcomed into their homes from local animal welfare organizations like the Humane Society of Imperial County.
A Unique Opportunity to Make a Difference
The Humane Society of Imperial county is excited to motivate community members to share how their adopted pets have positively influenced their lives. Each submission presents an opportunity for these stories to contribute towards lifesaving grants totaling up to $100,000. Every entry submitted through Petco Love Tales that features a pet adopted from our institution enhances our chances of receiving this vital funding.
Celebrating success Stories As 2013
Since its inception in 2013, over 25,000 adopters have shared their inspiring tales through Petco Love Tales.In total, Petco Love has distributed an notable $8 million in grants aimed at supporting animal welfare organizations that facilitate these adoptions. This annual campaign serves as a celebration of the unusual love that adopted pets bring into our lives and highlights how deeply they enrich our everyday experiences. Earlier this year alone, Petco Love awarded $500,000 across twenty-five animal welfare partners nationwide as part of recognizing the winners from the previous year’s competition; one standout organization received an unbelievable prize of $100,000!
Your Story Can Inspire Others
The Humane Society of Imperial County encourages you not only to showcase your beloved pet but also to submit your heartwarming story in hopes of inspiring more individuals within our community to consider adoption as their first choice when looking for a new companion. With over one hundred shelter animals currently waiting patiently for loving homes under our care, we believe that sharing your unique love story can motivate others toward making adoption decisions.

How To Submit Your Story
Participants can submit their love stories either through written accounts or by sharing links to public social media videos—or both! This flexibility allows adopters creative freedom in expressing how profoundly their pets have impacted them.
The submission window is open until September 29th at midnight (CST), allowing individuals aged eighteen and older (or those with parental consent) up until then to share stories limited to no more than five hundred words along with photos or videos featuring their adopted companions.
