The Anticipation Builds for The Hunger Games: Dawn of the Reaping
The emotional journey of The Hunger games: Dawn of the Reaping, which left me in tears, has reignited my excitement as we approach its release among the highly anticipated adaptations from literature to film. Filming commenced earlier this summer in Europe, and it’s been delightful to witness the district 12 tributes forming bonds on set. Though, navigating their story is not without its challenges given the film’s darker themes.
A Glimpse Behind the Scenes with McKenna Grace
McKenna Grace, portraying Maysilee Donner in Dawn of the Reaping, recently shared a captivating TikTok video. In it, she dances alongside Joseph Zada (the new Haymitch) and Iona Bell (who plays Lou Lou), participating in one of TikTok’s trending dance challenges set to The Cranberries’ ”Sunday.” Check out their fun moment:
This trio looked fantastic! They wore matching bear-themed shirts while literally embodying lyrics about spinning around and having their “feet off the ground.” It felt like a cozy sleepover vibe amidst filming for Dawn of the Reaping. Though, as Grace noted in her caption, they were missing one key member from District 12—Ben Wang, who plays Wyatt Callow.
A Touching Tribute Amidst Tension
The caption included hashtags like “#BenWangComeHomeWeMissYou,” highlighting his absence on set. Even those unfamiliar with suzanne Collins’ original book series know that Haymitch is likely to be one of only a few tributes remaining by the end of these harrowing games. Watching this lighthearted TikTok made me feel nostalgic and somewhat melancholic about what lies ahead for these characters.
I can’t help but wonder if they’ve already filmed Ben Wang’s character’s tragic scene; many fans are speculating about this in comments. Adding another layer to this emotional narrative is Lionsgate’s playful response to Grace’s video: “If you miss Ben Wang,we have a movie for you,” referring to his role in an upcoming project titled The Long Walk.
Please stop putting our boy through death games #justiceforben let him be happy!
An Exciting Future Ahead for Ben Wang and His Co-Stars
The actress known from Ghostbusters: Afterlife , McKenna Grace makes an excellent point! After being involved with two dystopian narratives centered around survival competitions or ‘death games,’ it would be refreshing for Ben Wang to take part in somthing more lighthearted next!
