The highly anticipated images from Kate Winslet’s inaugural directorial project, “Goodbye June,” have been unveiled.this film is set to hit theaters on December 12 and will be available for streaming on Netflix starting December 24.
The narrative revolves around a family during the festive season,where the health challenges faced by their mother compel her four adult children and their father to confront their familial relationships.As the fear of losing a loved one looms over them, June, the matriarch, chooses to manage her decline on her own terms, fostering unity among her family through humor and candid discussions.
In this poignant tale, Winslet portrays Julia, one of June’s daughters. The role of June is played by none other than Helen Mirren.

The cast of “Goodbye June” also features notable talents such as Toni Collette (“hereditary,” “knives Out”), Johnny Flynn (“Emma,” “Ripley”), Andrea Riseborough (“to Leslie,” “Lee”), Timothy Spall (“Mr.Turner,” “Harry Potter”),alongside Mirren (“The Thursday Murder Club,” “The Queen”).
Additional cast members include Stephen Merchant (“Jojo rabbit,” “Logan”), Fisayo Akinade (“Heartstopper,” “The Girl With All The Gifts”), Jeremy Swift (“Ted Lasso,” “Downton Abbey”) and Raza Jaffrey (“Code Black,” “Designated Survivor”).
The screenplay was penned by Joe Anders, who happens to be Winslet’s son. in a conversation with Deadline, Winslet expressed that having anyone other than herself direct her son’s script felt like being “stabbed in the gut.”
“I believe it feels monumental to have directed my first film at this stage in my life as a woman,” Winslet remarked. “It feels right; it truly does.”
Winslet collaborates with Kate Solomon as producers while Working Title serves as executive producers for this project. Previously, she took on producing duties for Ellen Kuras’ film “Lee,” where she portrayed American photographer Lee Miller.
