FITCHBURG — Second Chance Animal Services is organizing an affordable pet vaccination clinic on Saturday, September 13, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fitchburg Fire Department Headquarters located at 33 North St. This event is being conducted in collaboration wiht Be PAWsitive Therapy Pets and Friends of Fitchburg DOGS Inc., and it welcomes pets from all surrounding areas.
The clinic will offer rabies vaccinations for just $5, while the distemper/parvo combination vaccine will be provided free of charge. Additionally, microchipping services will be available for $22. These reduced rates are made possible through generous support from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, the Robinson Broadhurst Foundation, and Petco Love.

This clinic honors Jeffrey P. Stephens of Leominster, who co-founded the fitchburg vaccination series in 2011 while serving on the Board of Health.
“Jeff was incredibly proud to help establish an affordable vaccination clinic for local residents and their pets,” shared his widow Deana Stephens. “His commitment extended beyond people; he genuinely cared about their furry friends as well.”
The Fitchburg Fire Department has been a steadfast supporter of this initiative over the years.
“we are eager to support such a noble cause,” remarked Fire Chief Dante Suarez. “The Fitchburg Fire Department is proud to assist pet owners in maintaining their animals’ health.”
Apart from vaccinations, dog owners in Fitchburg can also license their dogs on-site through the City Clerk’s office—$9 for spayed/neutered dogs and $15 for unaltered dogs. Furthermore, attendees can exchange retractable leashes for safer nylon alternatives during this event.
“Our family finds comfort knowing that Jeff’s legacy lives on through Second Chance’s ongoing dedication to providing affordable vaccines,” added Stephens.
