Fire ⁢Incident in Cedar Rapids: Two Hospitalized and Pets Lost

Cedar rapids,⁤ Iowa (KCRG) – A fire at⁢ a condominium on Thursday evening resulted in two individuals being hospitalized and⁢ the tragic loss of at least two cats.

Details of⁣ the Incident

Emergency services ⁢were alerted to the blaze⁤ around 6:32 p.m. ⁣in the 300 block of 16th Boulevard NE. At that‌ time, ⁣two residents were inside the unit when flames erupted.

Upon their arrival,police officers successfully rescued one person who was stranded on a ⁤porch roof ‍using an⁣ interior ladder. Fortunately, another‌ resident managed to escape from the building​ independently.

Fire Containment Efforts

The⁢ fire​ department extinguished the flames by approximately 6:50 p.m.,but meaningful damage occurred on the second floor of the residence.

The two injured individuals ⁣were transported to a nearby ‌hospital for treatment.‌ Firefighters also managed to save several cats and dogs; ‌however, sadly, two cats⁢ did not survive⁢ this incident.

Examination Underway
