Amazon Soars: Q3 Sales Surge 13% to $180 Billion, AWS Revenue Rockets by 20%

Amazon ‌ disclosed ⁤its earnings for the third quarter of 2025 on Thursday, indicating a 13% increase in revenue during the⁣ period from June ⁢to September.

In the Amazon‍ Web Services (AWS) division, sales surged by 20% compared to ​Q3 2024, reaching an notable $33 billion.

The retail​ giant’s domestic sales climbed by ⁣11%, totaling $106.3 billion.Internationally, sales hit $40.9 billion, marking a​ growth of 14% (or‌ a more modest ​increase of 10% when adjusted for foreign ⁤exchange rates).

Additionally, amazon’s advertising revenue experienced a significant boost of 24%, amounting to $17.7 billion.

Performance Overview

Wall Street analysts had⁣ projected earnings per share (EPS) at $1.56 ‍with total revenues estimated⁤ at $177.8 billion based⁣ on ⁢consensus data from LSEG. However, Amazon surpassed these expectations with an adjusted EPS of $1.95 and total revenues reaching $180.2 billion.

The company ⁤reported that “Operating income was consistent at $17.4​ billion in Q3 compared to the same‍ quarter last year.” This‌ figure‌ includes two one-time expenses: a legal settlement‍ costing approximately $2.5 ⁣billion related to the ‍Federal Trade Commission and around $1.8 billion ⁢in anticipated ⁣severance costs due to ‍planned⁣ job cuts; excluding ⁢these charges would have resulted in ‌operating​ income of about $21.7 billion.

“We are witnessing robust ⁣momentum across all sectors⁣ within Amazon as ⁢artificial intelligence propels significant advancements,” stated CEO Andy Jassy in his letter to shareholders.“AWS is experiencing growth rates not seen since 2022, reaccelerating at an annual rate of 20.2%. Demand‌ remains strong for AI solutions and core infrastructure ⁣services; we’ve also been proactive in expanding our capacity—adding over 3.8‌ gigawatts over the past year alone.” He further noted that innovations⁤ within ‌their fulfillment network are yielding considerable benefits: “We are on track to​ deliver‌ Prime orders faster than ⁢ever this year‌ while expanding same-day delivery options for fresh groceries to over ‌2,300 communities by year-end and doubling ‍access ⁢for rural areas.”
