Tragedy and triumph: A Heartwarming Rescue in Mariposa
Mariposa, CA – A devastating fire at a condominium in Mariposa County not only claimed a life but also left several pets without a home. However, thanks to the quick actions of a local deputy and a compassionate neighbor, these animals have been given another chance.
The Incident Unfolds
The blaze erupted on Ashworth Avenue, located southwest of Highway 49 and the bootjack area, shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15th. Upon arrival at the scene, Mariposa County Sheriff’s Deputy Truitt found the residence wholly engulfed in flames. Sadly, it was reported that one individual lost their life due to this tragic incident.
A Miraculous Discovery
Amidst the chaos of the fire response,Deputy Truitt discovered two survivors—a small kitten and an adult dog—roaming around the site. the kitten suffered burns on all four paws and was promptly taken to animal control for care alongside its canine companion. Following initial treatment at animal control, the injured kitten was transferred to All Creatures Veterinary Hospital for further medical attention where it received burn treatment and antibiotics to aid its recovery.
A New Beginning for Two Pets
In an uplifting turn of events following this tragedy, both animals found loving homes. The dog was reunited with a neighbor who had previously cared for it while Deputy Truitt decided to adopt the resilient little kitten himself. He affectionately named her Ash as a tribute to her survival story.
