Tragic Fire in Massachusetts Condo Claims Lives of three Pets and Displaces Five residents
A devastating fire broke out on Friday at a three-story condominium complex in Abington, resulting in the tragic loss of three pets and displacing five residents.
The Abington Fire Department received an emergency call around 2:30 p.m. regarding the blaze at 26 Winthrop Street. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered significant smoke emanating from the second floor of the building.
Fortunately, all residents had successfully evacuated by the time frist responders arrived on scene. The fire quickly spread outside the structure, complicating firefighting efforts due to the building’s age and design.
Firefighters from neighboring towns joined forces with off-duty personnel to combat the flames. It took approximately forty-five minutes for crews to bring the situation under control without any reported injuries among residents or firefighters.
Sadly, two dogs and one cat perished in this incident. The american Red Cross was contacted to assist those five individuals who where displaced as an inevitable result of this unfortunate event.
Fire departments from rockland, Holbrook, Whitman, Weymouth, and Brockton also contributed their resources during this emergency response effort.
The city’s building commissioner has deemed the structure uninhabitable following extensive damage caused by flames. While an investigation is underway into what caused the fire, initial reports suggest it was accidental rather than suspicious in nature.
the scene was cleared by around six o’clock that evening as firefighters wrapped up their operations.
“Our hearts go out to those affected—especially those who lost their beloved pets,” stated Abington Fire Chief John Glynn in a public statement following the incident.”
