James Woods, a prominent supporter of ⁤Donald Trump, has recently ‌expressed his disapproval of the “tasteless” remarks directed at rob Reiner.

Woods, who ⁤featured in Reiner’s film ⁢“Ghosts of‍ Mississippi” back in ‍1996, shared insights about their friendship during an appearance on Fox News this past monday. He recounted how Reiner played a pivotal role in revitalizing his career during ⁣a ‍challenging period.

“Rob⁢ truly salvaged‌ my career⁤ and helped ‌me regain my footing in ⁣such⁤ a significant and fulfilling way. ⁤He fought for ⁤me when I was not favored ‍by the studio for a role,” Woods stated. “I transitioned from being nearly unemployed to ⁤receiving an Academy Award nomination,‍ and I owe it all to Rob.”

Friendship Beyond Politics

During an emotional interview ⁢with Jesse Watters, Woods reflected on how friends‍ often questioned his relationship with Reiner due to their differing political views; Reiner is known as a liberal activist, while Woods has been openly supportive‌ of ‍trump.

“I judge ‍people based on how they treat me, and Rob ⁢Reiner‌ was truly a blessing ‍in my life. ⁣we got along wonderfully; ⁤we cared ‌for one another… He was⁤ always ⁤there⁣ for me,” Woods remarked. “When ‍people would ask me ⁢about his political stance, I would respond that ⁣I see Rob as an ‌incredible patriot. Do I agree with many of‍ his ideas regarding how that patriotism should manifest?⁣ No. And he ‌doesn’t ⁢share my views either; however, he respects my sense of‌ patriotism. We both aimed towards the same⁤ goal:‍ a country we cherish.”

He ‌further‍ emphasized, “Just as ⁣you disagree ⁣with someone doesn’t mean ⁤you have to harbor hatred towards them.”

Praising ‌Reiner as “an authentic thinker” amidst what he perceives ‍as widespread intellectual stagnation among many ⁢individuals today, Woods recalled ⁢how Reiner addressed Charlie Kirk’s⁢ tragic death after his assassination last⁣ September. In his ⁢final interview before passing away, Reiner described⁣ Kirk’s death as “tragic,” asserting⁢ that regardless of one’s political ⁢beliefs, such violence is‌ unacceptable.

“I knew Charlie Kirk personally and ‌supported him… While some made hurtful comments about him posthumously,⁤ Rob‍ refrained from doing⁢ so,” Woods said during the interview on Monday night. “When people make disparaging remarks about Rob now, it genuinely frustrates and disgusts me. Did I align with all his political views? No. But did I admire him as a friend ‌and artist—a Hollywood‍ icon—and ⁢respect ⁤him ‌as a patriot? Absolutely! I’m profoundly saddened.” ‌

The tragic news broke ‍that Reiner and⁣ his wife Michele were found dead at their home in Brentwood, California on December 14th.
Following this incident, Trump took‌ to TruthSocial stating that the director had passed away alongside Michele due to ⁤what he termed the ⁣distress caused by their relentless opposition fueled by what he⁢ called TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME (TDS).

In subsequent comments later that day at a ⁤press conference he added: “I never admired him whatsoever; he was quite unhinged concerning Trump… His influence was ⁣detrimental⁣ to our nation.”
