What would Matt Remick’s response be to the groundbreaking news that Netflix is considering acquiring Warner Bros. and HBO Max?
producers Seth rogen and Evan Goldberg, known for their emmy-winning Apple TV series “The Studio,” expressed to Diversity that their fictional studio executive, portrayed by Rogen in the show, would likely respond with a sense of foreboding.
“He’d be fully taken aback,” Rogen shared with Diversity. “He would feel anxious about it. I believe he thinks that if you’re doing well, they wouldn’t just sell yoru company or studio to a tech giant. Though,I think he’d realize he was wrong in this case.”
This conversation took place at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles during the 18th annual National Arts and Entertainment Awards hosted by the Los Angeles Press Club. Rogen and his wife, Lauren Miller, were honored with the Visionary Award for their philanthropic efforts.
The Impact on Diversity
When asked by Diversity about their personal feelings regarding the staggering $82.7 billion deal that could unite one of the world’s leading streaming services with Hollywood’s largest studio alongside HBO Max, Rogen candidly replied: “Absolutely not.”
Goldberg offered a more playful outlook: “Who knows if it will even happen?” he remarked to Diversity. “I think AMC shoudl buy it instead. That’s just my opinion. They really should take it all over. It would catch everyone off guard—completely contrary to what netflix represents.”
