Fire Incident in Cedar Rapids: Two Hospitalized and Pets Lost
Cedar rapids, Iowa (KCRG) – A fire at a condominium on Thursday evening resulted in two individuals being hospitalized and the tragic loss of at least two cats.
Details of the Incident
Emergency services were alerted to the blaze around 6:32 p.m. in the 300 block of 16th Boulevard NE. At that time, two residents were inside the unit when flames erupted.
Upon their arrival,police officers successfully rescued one person who was stranded on a porch roof using an interior ladder. Fortunately, another resident managed to escape from the building independently.
Fire Containment Efforts
The fire department extinguished the flames by approximately 6:50 p.m.,but meaningful damage occurred on the second floor of the residence.
The two injured individuals were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Firefighters also managed to save several cats and dogs; however, sadly, two cats did not survive this incident.

Examination Underway
The cause of this unfortunate fire is currently under investigation as authorities work to determine what led to this incident.
