Celebrating Our Furry Friends at Our Lady of the Rosary
This past weekend, the community at Our Lady of the Rosary in Staines welcomed pet owners too bring their beloved animals to a special Mass. This event is part of a cherished annual custom that coincides wiht the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi and aligns with their own patronal celebration.
A Diverse Gathering of Pets
This year’s blessing saw an array of pets, including dogs, cats, and even some small rodents. Notably, a majestic horse also joined in for this heartwarming occasion.
The Importance of Pets in Our Lives
Fr. Philip Dyer Perry, the parish priest, expressed his thoughts on this unique tradition: “For many individuals and families, pets hold significant places in our hearts. They are part of God’s creation—an aspect we are called to nurture responsibly. The way we care for our animals reflects our humanity.”
“As we extend blessings to these cherished companions this weekend,” he continued, “may we always strive to treat God’s creation with kindness and respect.”
