FITCHBURG — Second ⁣Chance Animal ⁤Services is organizing an affordable pet vaccination clinic on Saturday, September 13, from‍ 9 a.m. to noon at the Fitchburg Fire Department Headquarters located⁣ at 33 North St. This event is ⁣being conducted in collaboration wiht Be ‍PAWsitive Therapy Pets and Friends of Fitchburg DOGS Inc., and it welcomes​ pets from all surrounding areas.

The ⁤clinic will offer rabies vaccinations for just $5, while the distemper/parvo combination vaccine will be provided free of charge. Additionally, microchipping services will be available for ⁤$22. These reduced rates are made possible through generous support from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, the‍ Robinson Broadhurst‍ Foundation, and Petco Love.

“cost can frequently enough⁢ hinder pet ⁣owners​ from accessing‍ necessary care,” stated Sheryl Blancato, CEO and founder of⁤ Second Chance Animal Services.“By providing low-cost vaccines and microchips, we ⁢help protect pets against preventable diseases and increase their chances of being reunited with their families if‍ they become lost.”

This clinic honors Jeffrey P. Stephens of Leominster, who ‌co-founded the fitchburg vaccination series in ‌2011 while ⁣serving​ on the Board of Health.

“Jeff was incredibly proud to help establish ‌an affordable vaccination clinic for local​ residents and their pets,” shared his widow Deana Stephens. “His commitment extended beyond people; ‌he genuinely cared about their furry friends as well.”

The Fitchburg Fire Department‌ has been a steadfast supporter of‍ this initiative over ⁣the years.

“we are eager to support such a noble cause,” remarked Fire Chief Dante Suarez. “The Fitchburg ⁢Fire Department is proud to assist pet owners in maintaining their animals’ health.”

Apart from vaccinations,dog owners in Fitchburg can also license their dogs on-site through the City Clerk’s office—$9 for⁤ spayed/neutered‍ dogs and $15 for ‍unaltered dogs. Furthermore, attendees can exchange retractable leashes for safer nylon alternatives during this event.
