this association has ‍been selected as one of‍ just 25 shelters nationwide to ⁢participate⁤ in⁣ an⁤ initiative known as Network Neighbors. This program ⁣aims to assist more lost pets in finding their way back⁢ home and is spearheaded by the Best friends‍ Animal ⁢Society utilizing Petco’s innovative Lost Pet technology.

Harnessing Technology for Pet Recovery

The advanced platform employs image recognition ⁢technology that compares its⁢ extensive⁢ database with photographs of missing pets.

A Commitment to Reunification

Victoria Ivankic,⁢ a representative ‌from the Maui Humane Society, expressed their openness to⁣ any advancements that‌ could facilitate the reunion of animals with their families. “We believe there⁢ are truly no stray animals,” she stated. “Most ​pets that come ⁣into our care—aside from⁢ community cats—have had homes at ‍some ⁣point. Thus, we⁣ prefer to⁤ refer to them as lost ​rather then stray. Any additional efforts aimed at reuniting these pets with their ⁤families are initiatives we will always pursue.”

A Dedicated Specialist on the Case

“We​ have a ⁤dedicated pet reunification‌ specialist who acts like an investigator,” she added. “He engages with people through social media and conducts thorough searches within our ⁣system to connect ‍pets back with their owners. Our partnership with Best Friends ‍Animal Society provides us another avenue for achieving‌ this goal.”
