From Passion to Business: The Story of 570 Sporting Dog Supply
On November 1, Kirsten Wojciechowski and her husband, Tyler, embarked on a journey that would change their lives when they adopted tucker, their first Labrador Retriever. Tyler had aspirations of training Tucker to become an remarkable bird-hunting companion.
However, they quickly discovered a significant challenge: there were no local stores that offered the specialized training equipment they needed, such as hunting blinds, decoys, and game calls.
The couple found themselves driving an hour and a half to Cabela’s in Hamburg just to purchase a suitable hunting vest for Tucker. Upon returning home wiht the vest, they realized it was the wrong size.
“The next day we were back in the car thinking about how if we ever got the chance, we would definitely open our own store,” Wojciechowski recounted during a recent phone interview.
A Dream Realized
Fast forward five years to April 2024—570 Sporting Dog Supply officially opened its doors at 3162 State Route 118 in Dallas. This new venture has successfully filled a long-standing gap in the market for sporting dog supplies.
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive; it’s no surprise that 570 Sporting Dog Supply was awarded Best Pet Supply Store in this year’s Times Leader Reader’s Choice Awards for Back mountain.
“We are thrilled! Our goal was to provide high-quality products and nutritious dog food right here at home. We wanted people who hunt or have sporting dogs to have easy access without having to shop online or drive two hours away,” Wojciechowski expressed joyfully about their success.
A Diverse Range of products
Despite its name suggesting exclusivity towards hunting gear, 570 Sporting Dog Supply offers an extensive array of products including grooming supplies, medications, treats, toys, leashes—and yes—specialized training equipment as well.
The store stocks between 30 and 35 different types of dog food but has access to hundreds more options through their online platform.”Our physical space is limited so we can’t carry everything here; though my online store showcases all available products,” she clarified.
The Joys of Entrepreneurship
One aspect Wojciechowski cherishes most about owning her business is interacting with various breeds daily while assisting pet owners in keeping their dogs healthy and happy. “It’s incredibly fulfilling yet challenging,” she noted.”but I love meeting new people every day and connecting with dogs while sharing products I’ve personally used and loved over the years.”
